Pompous

I mentioned in a post a while back that I couldn't find an article. It was an interview, and the writer asked the subject to describe himself. His answer?

"I'll try without sounding too, pompous."

It's my favorite one-sentence failure. Seriously? You have such a high opinion of yourself that you think if you describe yourself, you'll sound pompous? You're pompous!

Anyway, I couldn't find it the last time I searched, but in a flash of inspiration, I searched in gmail, which worked, because I'd emailed this same sentiment to cattycritic when I first came across it.

It's worth mentioning that there are two people to thank for getting me to actually post on here a lot. One is badrobot68, because he pressured me to, and the other is cattycritic. I used to email her a shit-ton of links and stuff, and now I post them here instead.

Golden age

I haven't seen my dad since the holidays, and when we were talking on the phone yesterday I mentioned that I have hair now. I wanted to say I'd send a picture, but he doesn't use the internet, and I don't currently have a printer. He surprised me by suggesting that I send a picture to his phone! My dad can get MMS! I sent him this one:

Finally, a break from "Elevator Operator"

As I've mentioned, I'm ripping my CD collection. Finally. I've got over 400, and they aren't alphabetized, so the idea of doing anything with them at all was always a little overwhelming. I finally said "screw it" and just started grabbing handfuls and going for it. It's been really nice to hear older stuff again. Every once in a while, I'll upload a couple of tracks to imeem and share them with you. (Thanks to salacious_pop for bringing the site to my attention. It's a nice alternative for those times when the song in question isn't on YouTube.)

The coffee experiment is about to begin

I ran out of syrup today and have just a little half-and-half left. Tomorrow's breakfast will be in Port Orchard (spending the night there tonight) and Sunday's will be out, so Saturday is day one. I'll use up the rest of the half-and-half as I begin.

I'm nervous.
