The "L" is for "lesbian" because "gay" is too inclusive.
HAHA major EDIT:I wasn't paying enough attention and I thought it read LGBT instead of LBTQ, and I was making fun of the L being redundant and separatist from the G. But the G isn't there. WHOOPS
