In water, near water
With another tattoo appointment coming up on March 1st I decided to get to the pool Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week and next. I couldn't get out for a walk Tuesday due to my conference call, but did the very intense core strength yoga video.
I'm starting to really enjoy my time in the pool in a whole new way now that I'm there doing core strength stuff. It's different when there's an important goal to work toward in an enjoyable way. I think a lot of it has to do with how challenging it can be to walk slowly along the bottom of the pool, using my whole foot instead of bouncing off the bottom like a gazelle. The music in my earbuds always makes me feel robotic in a way. I always picture various bad guys from the Terminator franchise pushing along as they melt or break up.
My ankles felt a little weak after a couple of weeks off due to snow and only a couple of walks in the meantime, but it didn't take long at the marina on Thursday for them to feel great again. It was so quiet and dark, too. I think I saw maybe two other people the entire time, and one of them was the security officer driving around in the patrol van.

Good things happen here
One of my favorite recent assignments for Live in Everett was a visit to the Everett Animal Shelter. I see the building all the time because it's out at Langus Riverfront Park, the place I go most Sundays to walk.

The City of Everett shared the link on the Facebook page yesterday, too! The biggest thrill, though, was that every animal I featured in the post was adopted by the time it posted, so we had to edit out all the links.
I didn't have a way to work it into the post, but there was someone on my street who fed and hung out with a lot of stray cats who suddenly had to move away. It was really heartbreaking to see the cats wait on the porch of that house hoping she'd come out and feed them, but it wasn't long until animal control trapped them and brought them in to the shelter to be adopted. Seeing their photos on the adoptions page was such a relief.
