ShiftyThrifting is one of my favorite accounts on tumblr. Mostly submission-based, the crew shares photos of strange things people find in thrift shops and online marketplaces. I discovered it when everything was closed for COVID and it was a fun alternative to going to thrift shops in person.
Their mascot is a British SylvaC ceramic beetroot jar like this one.
However, the one that was submitted had a slight production error, and instead of BEETROOT stamped across the top, it read BEETPOOT. The rest, as they say, is history. You can get all kinds of great BEETPOOT merch from them as well as other merch they've designed and even curated boxes of stuff from thrift stores. I got a small rubber replica necklace of the BEETPOOT and would love to have a jar of my own, but they're expensive and it's a great example of something that would take up space I don't really have anyway. So I did the sensible thing and got a tattoo.
Kylie at Lion's Paw did this for me a while back and the color came out a little wonky so I recently went in for a touchup. Now it's ready to impress and confuse people in line behind me at grocery stores.
