I think Mariah Carey just had a seizure.

I hate movies that take place in New York in the '80s and don't show the
WTC.

EDIT: They eventually showed it. Oopsie.

I am pretty sure that the WTC is in multiple shots in the movie. It came out just after 9/11, the soundtrack actually came out on 9/11.

I am actually nearly positive that either at the end or beginning (?) they do like a helicopter shot of the city, with WTC included.

... and the scene you took a photo of is like the WORST ONE. Oh god. the slow-motion walking-towards-the-dj scene. horrible.

the WTC has been deleted from all films after 9/11.

From the original NY Times review:

Throughout a screening in a Times Square theater the other night, the audience erupted repeatedly into laughter at scenes intended to carry emotional weight, and the only sight that roused the onlookers to applause was the World Trade Center, visible in one of the many fleeting, swirling overheard views of New York City that seem intended to invest this listless flop with sorely needed glamour and excitement.

it was originally scheduled for release pre-9/11.

Actually I just hadn't seen it when I typed that but finally saw it a couple of times. Movies like Party Monster drive me crazy by not including any stock footage.

Ended up seeing it a couple of times. It was, indeed, the highlight of the film.

Yeah, they did eventually show it.

Man, she had so many awful side-ponytails and stuff.

Another reminder to watch Gypsy 83. The WTC is at the very end, and it's a pretty emotional scene.

There's an episode of the old Real Ghostbusters cartoon in which Egon falls off one of the WTC towers. He's saved by Winston flying the Ecto-2 to catch him.

Odd sorta-similarity to the people jumping to their deaths to avoid a death by fire.
