Speaking of The Central...

There's something you should know about The Central. Their $3 happy hour doubles are an excellent deal, but when happy hour ends at 7pm, a double well is $10. I've never seen such a huge jump in price at the end of happy hour, and was about to say I'd never had a $5 well vodka anywhere unless the well was SKYY or better. But it's in Pioneer Square, and a $5 vodka shot served from a gun is actually pretty normal, and I've paid that price at the Fenix.

The reason I'm telling the story is that when she said "ten dollars" I yelled "woah!" and embarrassed myself. I said I'd pay, of course, and she said, "Oh, you've been here for a while, let me charge you the happy hour price." I didn't think that was exactly the right solution, either, so I tipped her $5.

That is crazy. Pioneer Square is built for the serious drunks, and frat boys whose parents send them money every week.

At this place here in Dublin, at 9pm the fancy cocktails jumped from 7 euros to 9.50-11 euros. I know that's not a huge leap but we thought they were already TOO EXPENSIVE. And then they went out of business.
