It needs 8-10 hours of bright direct light and then absolute darkness the rest of the day. Doing this and fertilizing once every couple weeks should have it blooming by Xmas.

her 2 friends in that same pot died within six months, but she's been around for 3 christmas seasons and then some!

the window she's by faces west and i rarely fertilize her, but water at least three times a week. actually i'll fertilize her today, thanks to jessica's suggestion.
