In my dream this morning, I was at Fiesta Lanes in Albuquerque. My mom worked there for a very long time, and my whole family bowled in leagues there. It's now a Staples but they at least kept the ball and pin shape on the sign.
luliepants was there and we were watching people bowl. Suddenly I had a bunch of memories come rushing to me, and I asked her, "Did you have the back of your hair dyed purple when you were a teenager?" She said she did, so I asked, "Do you remember me?"
Turns out, she and several friends had been at the bowling alley one night, and we were all bored while our parents bowled. I took her and her friends on a walking tour of the surrounding area, which seemed to be a strange mix of Seattle, Albuquerque, and maybe a little NYC because I've been watching Heroes so much. We reminisced about all the fun we'd had that night and were surprised we didn't recognize each other until we were actually both in the bowling alley.
We got on a bus with several other people, though the only other one I remember for sure was there was
exiledfromtribe because I shared a seat with him. It was a strange route that went from downtown to the waterfront, along the water on something even higher than the viaduct, and back up somewhere like Denny. We had really good views of all the buildings downtown, and each was decorated with lights in unreal shades of blue and purple. Each of the taller buildings also had tiny clouds stuck all over them, as though a cloud could somehow be formed by someone opening a window.
Now that I think about it, Julie's friends remind me of the people who cheered when I recovered in a funny way from a lyrical trip-up when I sang "Tempted" by Squeeze at karaoke last night
