I really hope I can get someone to do this song with me tonight at karaoke:

It was nine years ago this week that I was here for a week to see if I clicked with my employer's Seattle office, and to find an apartment before going back home and driving back up with my stuff. The timing was terrible. Because of Seafair, all of the hotels in Seattle we had good rates with were booked solid, so I had to stay in Bellevue and use a rental car. I even missed a few apartment viewing appointments because I couldn't find parking.
It would be easy to talk about the huge disaster my life became after this, but I don't feel like it. Instead, I'd rather think about how happy I was to be moving here, and how stunned I was by the region. My favorite part of the day was going from I-90 to I-5 and seeing downtown in the purple and blue morning shadows.
Steal My Sunshine and Nookie were the two songs that played constantly on the radio that week. I might do Nookie on Thursday if the crowd is big and rowdy, but tonight I want one of my amazing Seattle friends by my side singing a song that always takes me back to the beginning of my adventure here.
