Not too dramatic tonight, but I grabbed a few photos anyway. More back at flickr.

Sock garters: something you should buy online

Sock garters aren't terribly common any more, which is a shame, because they're hella sexy. I decided to finally get a pair today, so I went to Nordstrom at lunch. I had trouble finding someone to help, but when I did, he said they no longer had them. He paused while trying to think of where to tell me to go next, so I suggested Men's Wearhouse, and he agreed, and said to give Brooks Brothers a shot as well.

I went to Men's Wearhouse, and they said I should try Nordstrom and Brooks Brothers. I said I came there from Nordstrom, so they told me where to find Brooks Brothers.

When I got to Brooks Brothers, three of the associates were clearly having an argument at the front register, and one of them nearly jumped out of her skin when she realized I was within earshot. They told me to go downstairs. When I found the one associate down there, he said to go upstairs. When I got upstairs, the guy who sent me downstairs ran up to me with two boxes of sock garters, and he'd obviously been running around looking for me since he realized he sent me downstairs by mistake.

They were ugly, though. The area where all the straps intersect was held together with a thick, awkward piece of shiny leather or something like it. And they were 26 bucks. I said I wanted something plainer, and he said I should try Nordstrom. He also said he might be able to order something else for me, but I told him I'd rather just go online.

I eventually settled on these, but may end up grabbing a one-strap pair later on.

Shopping in person is a good way to kill time, and is essential if you have to try the item on, but some things are best found on the web.
