I got about halfway through my bagel and realized I forgot to take a picture of it. My mind is on other things this morning. If all goes according to plan, I will return to work a week from Thursday. One major change is that I've decided to go back to granola as my breakfast mainstay once I'm in the office. We get free milk there, so it's a nice, easy, cheap breakfast. The cold milk is also very refreshing in contrast to my hot coffee.

I'm not giving bagels up entirely. I'll probably have a few here and there, like Sunday breakfast or a bagel sandwich for the occasional lunch. Rest assured, I'll always post a picture.

Going back to work will be nice because 100 days is about as much as I can take of a break like this. People keep making little comments here and there about how nice it is to have a vacation like this, but it's really not like a vacation. For starters, I hate summer and got stuck suffering through it in my stuffy apartment knowing that my coworkers were enjoying some of the best AC around. Temperature and boredom were my two main reasons for going to the movies so much. A six dollar matinee on a blazing hot day is so worth it.

The other reason it was nothing like a vacation was, of course, money. As in, not having any of it. I was able to squeak by, but just barely. In fact, I borrowed about 1.5 weeks of pay total from my brother and my dad. They were very nice when they learned about the break I had to take and were very clear that I should let them help out rather than let any fees pile up.

I only had one fee the whole time when I somehow managed to go over my credit limit by $3. I thought I had everything planned out and I'm still not sure how it happened. Citibank doesn't show you a running total or any pending charges, so it's damn near impossible to say sometimes.

One thing I'm really looking forward to is finally getting that credit card paid down. I use it for paying bills and never intended to carry a balance on it, but ended up having it always hovering near the limit with me paying off enough to pay for upcoming bills. Once I'm back at work and the money's coming in, my first priority will be to pay that off so I just pay off the bills after they occur each month instead of clearing up enough credit for them before they arrive.

My second savings priority is my vacation with Garrett in March. We're going to London and Scotland. Yes, I know one is a city and the other is a country, but we'll probably just see London while in England but will probably cover a lot more ground in Scotland since we'll be seeing a couple of friends.

Speaking of money, it's been tight for a couple of weeks, which is why I've been neglecting the bathroom blog. I'm updating that today, though, with some pictures taken at Chapel on Monday.

Edit to add: I think going back to work will be very good for SeaWC. Not only will I have more money for going out to these places, but I'll also be able to just pop into them occasionally after work. It'll be a nice semi-regular after-work thang.

Oh yeah, and my (distant) third money priority is more tattoos. Knowing what tattoo you want next and not having the money for it really, really sucks.

Anyway, today's bagel was half a raisin bagel with cream cheese and Vegemite.
