I hate when I cook something really cool, but can't get a decent picture of it. One such example is yesterday's breakfast. We had some leftover rice with just a bit of teriyaki beef and chicken, some sausage patties from Saturday, and a little broccoli from Saturday night. I put all that in a pan to warm up a bit, added six eggs and two egg whites, stirred for a bit, and baked for 20 minutes. It was my first frittata and it was awesome. I'm very much looking forward to baking all kinds of things into fluffy eggs.

We watched Star Trek 2 through Star Trek 6. Garrett asked which was my favorite, and it was kind of hard to answer. None of them were nearly as bad in my opinion as people are always saying. I guess I'd say 2 and 4 were the best, and they were very different, so it'd be hard to say one is better than the other. Now that we're done with Enterprise and aren't terribly interested in Deep Space Nine, we might actually start watching the original series. I've only ever seen a couple of episodes of it.

Actually I want to see that episode of DS9 where they end up on the Enterprise when the tribbles are on it.

We also watched The Thing (1982) last night. It had been so long since I'd seen it, the only scene I could remember was when the upside-down head sprouts legs. I'm definitely looking forward to the prequel, and so far haven't seen anything with Mary Elizabeth Winstead that I didn't like a lot. Though I have pushed Factory Girl down in my queue quite a few times.

It's funny to see that Eric Christian Olsen is in it. I first noticed him on Brothers and Sisters where he and Will McCormack's character worked at a startup with Rachel Griffiths. Ever since then, I see those two guys everywhere.

I'll admit one major draw for me to the prequel to The Thing is that I want it to take place in 1982. I really enjoy things that are set in the near past, even more than I enjoy things that were set in the future when they were made and that future has already passed. Like 2001 or Bombshell. Not that I'm saying Bombshell is a good movie. It was just fun to watch a movie made in 1996 that takes place in 2011 and be glad our computers and clothes are better than they thought they'd be.

The fridge at work smells so bad that I actually emailed the people in charge of the kitchenettes to let them know. It's normally cleaned on the last Sunday of the month, but the smell is bad enough that I ate the lunch I brought for breakfast because I couldn't imagine eating something that was in there all morning. Yeah, that bad.
