Not really a drag at all
Apr. 10th, 2015 11:32 amA lot of people are saying this season of RuPaul's Drag Race is the most boring yet, and that they don't like how there doesn't seem to be a queen who'll surely be a huge breakout star. I'm actually enjoying it a lot for that reason. I correctly predicted the winner very early on for seasons 3-6, and it's fun to feel right now like it could be anyone's game.
Plus I've always enjoyed competition shows where the contestants grow a lot over the course of the show. Drag Race isn't instructional the way, say, Make Me a Supermodel was, but this season feels a little bit like it is anyway.
Another thing that is interesting to me is that the challenges this season seem harder than ever, and it doesn't feel like the queens are getting any credit for mostly making it through them. Remember when they had to decorate a cake and match their outfit to it? Nothing this season's been that easy.
I also like the new format for Untucked. It's a cool look behind the scenes and it feels like a lot more than just an extension of the show the way it used to.
