This business of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day all falling on the weekend seemed dumb at first, but my work is taking the Fridays and Mondays before and after off. Two four-day weekends in a row with a 3-day week in between sounds pretty great to me! It's a bummer that I need to work all afternoon tomorrow, but I'll survive.

I figured today might be pretty quiet over at Snohomish Aquatic Center, so I swam there after accidentally sleeping in a bit. It was quite busy after all, with US Masters there when I arrived and a high school swim team arriving about halfway through my swim. I had to switch lanes because of them, but I still had a lane to myself the entire time.

The drive home was cool. I raced the Amtrak Cascades and saw some really awesome clouds.

It took a while, but this strata I made for breakfast out of Christmas leftovers was worth the wait.

Strata made from Christmas leftovers

A strata is a pretty cool option if you happen to need to use up some bread, eggs, and cream. You can add any number of things. I used this recipe as a guideline but today's had green onions, carrots, celery, pickled pepper rings, cheddar, and ham. Good stuff.
