Explore once more
Jul. 17th, 2022 06:09 pmI still use the app that tracks my walks but I almost never use the companion app that makes a video. I decided to today because I got reacquainted with some spots today. Some that aren't even trails, but that are near them and still walkable. I think they're just there as flood control, hills and channels that keep the gulch--especially the part where there are railroad tracks--from eroding away.
One thing about exploring such terrain is that it doesn't go very far in any direction, which is why you see so many little branches on this path. One fascinating thing about those spots is that you can see the actual trails from them, and it's not really obvious when you're on the trails that there's anywhere up above with a view of you.
That route has 526 feet of elevation gain. Glad I can still easily do that after months of mostly-flat routes.
