Orange bathroom preview
Jan. 16th, 2023 02:29 pmI really wish it was done, but we've still got a little few things left to do in my new bathroom: towel bars, toilet paper holder, mirror, and new doors on the cabinet. That last part will take the longest since it's custom. Since there's a matching cabinet just outside the bathroom, we're updating those doors, too. The work today is happening in Garrett's bathroom, though. He hasn't had a working fan in there for a long, long time. The new one's pretty neat! It comes with colored lights you can control and a Bluetooth speaker. I got jealous so I ordered a small speaker with light show for my own bathroom that'll probably rest on the toilet tank.
The orange bathroom is done enough to use it at least. And to grab a couple of preview photos.

Orange tile is hard to come by and very expensive. Thankfully my contractor suggested adding tint to the grout for a cool orange look in the shower while also using the cheapest tile imaginable. I love the way it came out. And doing that meant I could spend a little more on tile for shower niche, sink backsplash, and the floor.

Here's a look at that shower niche, which runs all the way across the shower. That's actually easier and looks better than the square cutout that a lot of people do, and it holds a lot more. But as it turns out, with everything looking so nice and new, I didn't want original product bottles in there. It ruined the look! I already had the first bottle on the left which is a foaming dispenser for Dr. Bronner's mixed with water. It fit so well in the square section of tile that I got two more for shampoo and conditioner, but with regular pumps. It's neat that the last square plus the final section is just big enough for the orange crab soap dish I got.
Now if Irish Spring would only make an orange version of their soap...
