Due to instructor time off and certification training, I've managed to have five water fitness classes with five different instructors since last Monday. When the instructor for the fourth class was setting up, she came to the edge of the pool near me and said, "You must be the one with all the tattoos my husband told me about who's checking out all the classes at all the different locations." I suppose people will definitely talk if you're covered in tattoos and wearing next to nothing. In fact, the only fellow swimmer I've seen with nearly the ink coverage was a lap swimmer from years ago at the swim center whose back was one giant face. The virgin Mary, I think.

Water fitness is going great. While I wish it started earlier (and that instructor agrees with me on that) there's so much to like. Sure, one can learn all those exercises and do them, but it's much easier in a big group with someone else calling the shots. So far I've had two instructors who stood by the pool and three who were in the water with us. One of those in the water would hop out occasionally to make sure we knew the move. I much prefer the ones who teach from the side of the pool for the best view. They also have the option of wearing a microphone so we can hear them loud with the music.

I haven't decided where to go tomorrow. There's something to like about each facility but of the three, Marysville's the least convenient. It's north of here and Seattle is south, so as you can imagine, it's not very fun joining that morning commute traffic.

In addition to meeting lots of new people, I also run into some who haven't seen me in a while. Quite a while if they haven't seen me since before I was gone for six weeks, or just a bit if the last time I saw them was the week before last. Today's a walk day, but I saw several of those people because the rain was coming down in sheets and I didn't feel like walking in it, so I used the indoor track at the Everett Y instead. I can't track my distance with the app because the track is too small, but my pace is consistent enough that I can confidently say I did 4 miles. That's kind of a lot on an indoor track but after a while I started to like it a lot more than I thought I would.

There's going to be a lot of rain in the coming weeks, so it's great to have that option.

Another option I haven't explored yet is the lunchtime water fitness class. Those are available here and in Marysville, Tuesday and Thursday. And that might be a much better time to go to Marysville.

The good news is that my favorite class so far was yesterday's in Everett, with the regular instructor. We didn't use any of the equipment but it was somehow still the toughest of the workouts.
