Countdown to Wednesday
Apr. 21st, 2024 04:47 amOn Wednesday this week, I led the full hour in water fitness and it went significantly better than my first four-song appearance the week before. Even though I had a hell of a time keeping it on, having a microphone that time was a huge help. I've since bought my own and crossing my fingers that it'll work this week. There's just no way to tell until you plug it in and try. I confirmed here at home with a crappy bluetooth speaker that it functions, it's just a matter of how well. Due to my misunderstanding of the technology, I narrowed my search to Bluetooth ones, and didn't have that many to choose from. Now I realize the connectivity technology doesn't really matter; it's how the headset connects to the receiver, not directly to a speaker.
I can just return the headset (actually a 2-pack!) if it doesn't work. And that also makes me realize I should maybe buy another one that's a little nicer between now and Wednesday. Or at least bring a headband so the one that's at the facility might stay on better.
This week's routine is a lot looser. I have a list of moves I want to get through for the full songs and some clues to when to change to the next move according to music cues. That's a lot easier than trying to count out bars of music while paying attention to myself and everyone else. Tabata songs are even easier because they count out 20-second bursts with 10-second breaks. You just choose what moves you want to highlight during the bursts.
Wednesday's session wiped me out completely, for hours. I think part of that is due to most of my exercise being in the water lately. I'm down to one walk a week these days, on Sundays. But since that facility has a walking track, I spent the hour before class walking and listening to my playlist one last time. And I'm very excited to get out for five or so miles this morning. No rain the forecast, which is a nice change.
