I forgot to mention something very cute in my last post. Debbie (the first person in that photo) brought me an apple for my first day teaching! It was super cute. And then I was really bummed because I couldn't find it in my bag when I got home. It wasn't missing out on the apple that worried me, the whole group sat in the hot tub when I left, and I was worried that if I left the apple behind, she might have seen that. I told that story to the lifeguard as I was setting up on Thursday and then somehow after that I finally found the apple. It was in my bag all along. I have no idea how I missed it because it's a very simple music stand bag, no inner pockets or anything. And I could swear I emptied it completely. That apple made a great snack after my second class.

I suppose I also could have shared these photos of Tuvix, who was at his grooming appointment during my first class.

And another update, the class duck was upgraded. I believe my original signal duck was the second smallest in a pack of five, I went one or two sizes up for easier squeezing and to reduce the likelihood of blocking the hole with my hand.

Subbing for Connie in Marysville on Wednesday and Erin in Everett on Thursday was an incredible opportunity, but I'm definitely not where I need to be in order to teach two classes just 2.5 hours apart. And maybe there's just no great way to do that when both facilities are hot, with Everett being even hotter than Marysville. There are two people I'd like to thank: whoever told me about electrolyte chewables, and whoever set up the mister on the other side of the hot tub from where I was teaching in Everett. Being able to signal for everyone to keep going while I ran over to do a quick mist job was a real lifesaver.

I can happily report that both those sub sessions went very well. Lots of people in Marysville asked if I'd be the sub on Friday and were bummed when I said no. And my friend Liz tried water fitness for the first time and she said I was the talk of the women's locker room. Of course, none of this translates to people coming to my class. I only had three people on Thursday, and two of them were Chrissie and Ivy. Impressively, they also came to the Everett class later that morning! Talk about support.

Despite being completely wiped out and having sore knees, I went to class on Friday to see Suzanne my director sub for Connie one last time. It's a testament to how great water fitness is that I was able to do that workout in my diminished state. I needed to visit the facility anyway in order to sign into my official email account for the first time, which I can now use from anywhere. It's funny, just over two years ago I was on the Google suite of products at home and at work, and now I'm on the Microsoft suite at home and at both of my jobs.

Now I can finally start my new schedule. I teach Tuesday and Thursday at 7:15 in Marysville and for the time being that's the only exercise planned those days other than walking laps on the track to warm up before class. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I'll drive to Mukilteo for two circuits of strength training, then head to Everett in my workout gear on and my regular clothes in my bag, then switch to the swimsuit when I arrive. Wednesday is the most difficult class of the week and if it becomes too much, I'll skip the strength training that day. I'm glad to be making this switching because the gap between Thursday and Tuesday when I was doing it on those days was pretty long. It's way more evenly spread out by doing Monday and Friday, and Wednesday would just be a nice bonus if I'm able to do all three.

And of course there will be weekend walks. It was just Sunday for years but I've added Saturday because I don't sleep in on weekends and Garrett usually does, and I got sick of being awake for 4-5 hours waiting for him to get up. But I'm not walking this weekend, opting instead to continue recovering from last week while I work on my CPR training. That's about five hours of online work and then I have to do a three-hour session in person, 5-8pm on Friday the 21st. That'll be the most challenging part since I'm generally in bed by 7pm, even on Fridays.

But at years old I can finally take my own pulse! It wasn't until I started watching those videos that I finally knew the correct spot to feel for it.
