Every up has its down (and vice versa)
Jul. 19th, 2024 05:08 amHaving my class go on hiatus when it did ended up working out well in a couple of ways. I ended up getting a cold right after and didn't have to deal with finding coverage, and being sick ended up being the break my knees really needed. A couple of weeks into teaching, my knees hurt a lot. I started taking glucosamine, which took them from sore to just weak. By the time I was back on deck this week, they felt great!
I only got to get in the water once, this week on Wednesday for the most challenging of the classes I go to. Now I'm banished from the water again because I got three tattoos just hours after that class. And I'm getting another today! I'll post about those when they're healed and I can get nice pictures. And I need a pedicure before I can get a very good picture of one of them. The original plan was to get one before the tattoo, but there just wasn't time once I got better.
Connie asked if I could sub for her today, which is awesome! And then the next day Nelly asked if I could sub for her today, which would have been awesome! But I can't. And Connie invited me to her annual 120-foot slip and slide party tomorrow, which is awesome! But I'll have four fresh tattoos, so I'm not going to try the 120-foot slip and slide.
I'm still so excited to be included. We've thrown lots of parties over the years and I always wished that would translate to getting invited to ones we didn't have to throw, or even just dinners, but that hasn't really come to pass. I guess you can either be a thrower or a goer, haha. I've heard that complaint before, but nobody ever thought of the cool rhyming saying that I just used.
Garrett's heading to an aviation event so I'm on my own tonight and most or all of tomorrow depending on whether he feels like staying a second night. Perfect time to head to a party hosted by the amazing instructor who helped me get my start as one.

Since it's not really relevant to the tattoos themselves, I may as well update on the overall status of my tattoo wanna-do list. If you didn't know, we have a household spreadsheet and I have a personal one that started as my way to organize Caturday and Schadenfriday posts back when I did those. Now it's whatever I need it to be, but I still call it Catursheet. Two of those tabs are tattoos done and tattoos to do, and after today, the done tab will have FIFTY entries. And that's counting my whole left arm as one tattoo, and my back as one.
I moved some items in the to-do list around a bit so that everything I definitely will get is together at the bottom, while the top of the list is stuff I would simply like. Two, maybe three of the eight items that will be done will integrate into existing tattoos, which means I have five to six fully-new ones to get.
It might sound dumb to have a dozen concepts that I don't consider a priority waiting in the wings, but I know from experience that it's a good thing! Sometimes you have a space that needs to be filled in and don't know what to put there. That's how I ended up finally getting a modified version of what I originally wanted to be my first tattoo way back in the '90s, finally, last year.
One priority tattoo could get changed a lot if the look I'm going for isn't really possible in a tattoo. One might get eliminated altogether because I may only want it in a certain spot that's not actually a great place to get a tattoo.
I could go on and on, but since I don't talk about concepts ahead of time any more, I'm sure it's boring to read. I will say one of the tattoos I got Wednesday is an idea I only had in the last couple of months, but it was so good that I got it done as soon as I could rather than let it languish on the list. And the one I'm getting tomorrow isn't even my idea! There's a guest artist at the shop and her wanna-do Instagram story featured something I absolutely had to have.

I didn't even realize until I got home yesterday that I forgot to bring my frozen cooling towels with me to teach. And yesterday was the most wiped out I've felt after teaching in a long time. So now I know those things work and am much less likely to forget them ever again.
