Week one done
May. 10th, 2025 05:13 amI woke up Tuesday morning to a cute surprise, signs like this all over the house Garrett made to cheer me on for my first deep water fitness class!

I'm glad my knee has recovered so well because I put it to good use and managed to demonstrate moves I thought I would only be able to describe. For instance, standing on one foot and kicking the other leg four times while turning 360 degrees, 90 degrees at a time. And then doing it with the other foot in the other direction. I had them do that several times, but only showed each direction once. Of course it wasn't my knees that got the biggest workout that day. My core got more work than it has in years. Probably the most since I was doing physical therapy for my lower back.
There was no way to predict how many people might show up for the inaugural class but we had 16 which was great!

I couldn't be there on Thursday for Nelly's class because I was teaching my own in Mukilteo, but my friend Chrissie was and she got Nelly to send her the group photo she got. She's deeply afraid of technology so although I wish I got a higher quality version, I'm impressed that she was able to save and send it.

Garrett turned 53 on Wednesday but we celebrated with Bev on Tuesday because he's the new front counter person at the tattoo shop we go to Wednesday through Sunday. Happy birthday, Garrett!

I'll be leaving in a couple of hours for a cool walk/hike with my friends Rachel and Lance. There are a few other people in our Hiking Fools group chat who can't make it today, but I'm glad to at least have them along because two cars makes a route I want to show them much easier. We're meeting at the bottom of Japanese Gulch, driving one car up to the top, then going down via a long and very scenic route. And then we don't have to hike back up!
