Wasn't Dennis Rodman probably also high on meth as well as drunk during that weird press conference in North Korea? It's totally the drug of choice there.

News of Philip Seymour Hoffman's overdose broke the same day as the Red Heroin Chili Peppers played the Super Bowl halftime show. The accomplishments of former addicts aren't really celebrated at the same volume at which we mourn those who are destroyed.

And heroin is a tough one. It has taken so many people over the years. And those who get off it don;t always recover. I have one friend who almost died but she got clean, but she's pretty damaged. Looks a good 10 years older than she is, and has lots of health issues. :(

DR seemed completely methed out. I don't follow anything that isn't right in your face about him, but that totally makes sense.

You're right. Celebrities in recovering don't call our attention as much as the dead and sick ones.

We have a friend who will probably die. Nothing really to be done. I have a lot of anger surrounding it, and I'm sure it's misplaced, but I haven't had a problem placing it.

huh, good point about RHCP vs PSH. Of course, no one has heard of them (well I haven't) since the 90s, where PSH I 'saw' last month in the hunger games. But it's true no ones giving them kudos for kicking. I was wondering if we'd have the same empathy/sadness for PSH if we saw him going in and out of rehab/prison for a few decades, a la robert downey jr.

its funny that right before he died I was telling some friends how I'm totally hot for PSH, and after seeing the hunger games had a ribald fantasy involving both him and peeta. Then my friend looked up PSH fan fiction, I couldn't quite bring myself to read it though! Then he died.
