I love this picture of my old neighborhood. I spent several years in the building next to that church dome on the left. My first studio there was in the back on the right, and the dome was an awesome view. I eventually moved to the front and had an insane view of downtown.

Untitled

The dome was directly in line with the windows, so that's all you would see when you walked in. If you sat in the chair right by the window, you could also see past it.

Bonus info: there are two sex clubs in the first picture! And you can actually see the locations of all three that there were. One closed.

I loved living in the building Erik who used to live in the building I used to live in used to live in! I must have told you that I really wanted to live in that building when I was looking for a place in 2000, but they wanted to refinish the floors in the unit I wanted and were trying to get me to take the ground floor one in the alley. That's how I ended up in the Marlborough House.

UGH, ground floor would be a nightmare! Erik who used to live in the building you used to live in used to live on the 3rd floor corner unit and it was noisy even back in the 90s.

I'm glad I ended up at the Marlborough when I did anyway. My apartments there were great, and I wouldn't even know you if I didn't live there!

But we met through Kyle...I think?

We did. But I met Kyle because he was roommates with Joni, who worked with Eric, who I met through my neighbor down the hall in the Marlborough House. It's funny to think how different things would be if The New McDermott gave me the apartment I wanted in 2000.

Such a long list of things like that leads us to where we are at any particular point in life. It's kind of mind blowing.

One or two of my favorite photos that I took are from that apartment. I just went back to this photo set on Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/squeedle/sets/72157623333044718/) and you know what? You and I invented light painting! Ok we didn't, but we did it before it was a thing.

We are truly pioneers.

It's also pretty crazy to see how many buildings have gone up in Seattle since then.

Oh and you're thinking of the apartment before this apartment. That set is from the Boren apartment and I'm talking about the Bellevue apartment here.
