2026QOTD April 16-20
Apr. 14th, 2026 11:18 amFull list of April questions here.
16. In 1922, Annie Oakley set a women's record by breaking 100 clay targets in a row. Have you ever been clay pigeon shooting?
I've never fired a gun and don't intend to. I consider guns a cancer and the way people get guns in order to defend themselves from other guns sort of proves my point. If you want one that's your business and I won't tell you not to but I'll definitely tell you that you can't bring one into my home or onto my property.
17. Have you ever seen bats flying in your area? Have you ever seen a bat up close or seen a bat house attached to a tree?
I've never seen a bat flying here but I know they do because I unfortunately discovered one stuck to some flypaper near our back door. Having to put it out of its misery was a crushing experience and I'll never use flypaper outdoors again. And since there's not really a place to use it indoors and it's a sucky product anyway, I'll probably never buy it again. I also bought a bat house to give bats in the area a safe place to roost, which is what that bat was looking for when it ended up stuck by our door. It can hold around 100 bats!
18. How often do you listen to the radio? If you do, what kind of things do you listen to (talk/pop/classical)?
I never listen to the radio any more because I love Pandora in the car. I have a lot of artist-based stations and typically shuffle them unless I'm in the mood for something specific. If I'm coming home from Safeway, I might have the radio on because it's such a short trip. The sound isn't very good and there's a good chance I'll just hear hosts talking anyway. In case anyone's curious, the station the car is set to is 95.7 The Jet.
Back before I could use my phone in the car, I used to leave it on Jack FM. When they laid off Lee Callahan, I decided they can fuck all the way off. She was their only on-air host and had worked there 16 years. That's when I switched to 95.7, which will probably always be the terrestrial radio setting in whatever car I have going forward.
19. In 1934, Shirley Temple starred in her first film. Have you ever seen any of her films?
At first I thought maybe I had seen her in Miracle on 34th street, but I looked it up and learned that was Natalie Wood! And I'm still not sure if I've seen it. So, no, I haven't. And probably won't.
20. Did you sleep well last night?
I did! I don't even remember getting up to go to the bathroom, which I usually do 1-2 times a night. Now I'm curious if I did and don't remember. I certainly didn't wake up feeling like I had to rush to the bathroom.
