I took out one of my nipple piercings this morning. Six months of pain was enough to finally convince me that my body didn't want that one in, and was rejecting it. It had moved way down and wasn't showing any signs of stopping.

For those of you who haven't had a piercing reject, I tell you, it's truly a lovely experience. One side heals and pushes on the offending implant while the other stays raw, slowly dying off, peeling and oozing away. I saw lots of little areas dry out and come off, and the inside stayed raw and oozy the whole time.

The other one's doing great.

My niece has had her navel piercing reject 3 times. She keeps going back and giving it another go.

There is some wisdom in trying again, because the scar tissue from the last rejection can help hold it in, but I'd probably give up after so many. Especially for a navel, they're so hard to heal anyway.

Oh, you should have seen the gory mess that my navel was when I tried to pierce it back in the day. I never saw such a dark shade of black as the area turned.

the only piercing my body rejected was a frenulum but I think it had more to do w/ stretching it too fast. :(
