I'm sure the fact that I love my mobile device comes as no shock to any of you. You all see my photo posts, my text messages, and my Twitter barfs. Several of you have been out with me and seen how useful it can be when we need some information or directions. And when someone sends me a picture of his wang, you all get to see it on its large screen.

I found another use for it today:
It sounds silly to ever have to do this, but today it came in really handy. When I left the gym, a guy stood behind me at the crosswalk, just where I'd have to really turn to see him. Then, when we got across the street, he got about six paces ahead of me and then walked backward for a bit, facing me. It was sketchy. So I let him get up ahead of me, so as he was heading West along Howell, I cut up the stairs which go toward Metropolitan Park's East tower. He turned left on Summit, which meant he was up ahead of me, so I just stopped and pretended to play with my phone to see what he would do next.

He stopped a couple of times up ahead of me where the walkway I was on hits Summit, and he really seemed to want me to be walking close to him, but not in any sort of cruisy way. I just stood there and fiddled with my phone until he left.

The times that he stopped, he seemed really suspicious. See, it seems suspicious when you stop and walk back and forth for no reason, but it doesn't if you're pretending to type on your phone.

It sounds kinda dumb now that I've typed it out, but I'm pretty sure anyone in my place would have also worried enough to stay away from the dude.

I don't think it's dumb. I've pretended to type on my phone for various reasons. The "various reasons" are actually quite dumb.

Pretending to get a call is a fantastic way to get out of any sort of discussion with sketchy folk. A+

It's definitely sketchy.
Did you get a picture of him?

Haha, no. I figured if he saw me trying to get a picture it might set him off.

The delay on the MDA makes it so challenging.

Do you have burst mode on your camera? That *can* be quicker.

the screen on mda would be faced towards the user, not the one being photographed. the camera is on the back.

It does have it, but I don't know what it is, so I never tried. I'll try it!

On stuff like that, follow your instincts even if it makes you look dumb or paranoid.

He was probably just a socially clueless fucktard, but you never know, and I'm sure you wouldn't want to hang with a socially clueless, though harmless, fucktard anyway :) So NO BIG LOSS THERE.

He wanted to buy/sell drugs, or maybe ask you out.
