I drive by the Georgia Academy For The Blind on my way to work. They have a sign that has a "word of the Month" in Braille.

I went to a planetarium conference a few years ago, where the keynote presentation was by George Murphy, who—among other things—did visual effects for the Matrix movies. When I got his business card, I noticed that it had his name printed in Braille, but there was no relief to the dots. I just took it as a sign of yet another Hollywood fake.

The way this came about was that I was trying to choose which font to put "available" in, and noticed that there was a braille one. Then I realized one could say they were available while asking to be felt up.

It's been that kind of a week.
