Huge new vietnamese restaurant I found downtown. Same owners and food as New Vietnamese on 3rd between Pike and Pine.

EDIT TO ADD:
You can tell they are a new restaurant and really want to make a good impression. My food didn't take that long but I was apologized to several times and offered free drinks. Seriously, it was only about 8 minutes.

ANOTHER EDIT, I FORGOT:
Look at the cute way they handled these areas of the wall that stick out. Little one-tops scattered throughout the place.

question... do you make your own pho? [sorry if i didn't spell it correctly] my husband loves it from May Cafe here and i am horrified at how much he is paying for soup. do you recommend any websites or etc for a recipe on making it at home? i can't stand May Cafe so if i never went there again it would be too soon.

There are other, nicer vietnamese restaurants in that neighborhood. Cafe Da Lat and one I can't remember that's over by Ta Lin.

I've only tried to make pho that one time, which I posted about recently. If you want to try it, I recommend going to Ta Lin and seeing if you can find any broth cubes. If they have them, grab some, along with some noodles, rare beef, limes, bean sprouts, Sri Racha, and hoisin sauce. Then just go for it.

I don't recommend ordering online because you usually have to buy a lot, and if you don't like it, you're stuck with it.

the only thing i am really concerned about is the noodles. what kind are they? not everything is in english. May Cafe is right across from Ta Lin, is that the one you are thinking of? i can get the meat & sprouts elsewhere. already have the Sri Racha [which we use all the time] and some hoisin sauce. he says it's all about the broth... is that right? are the broth cubes special over at Ta Lin?

There's another place that is across the parking lot, south of Ta Lin.

The broth is pretty much the central figure in all this. I only say go to Ta Lin because you are unlikely to find Pho cubes over at Smith's and I don't know the names of any more asian/vietnamese stores over there.

The noodles are slightly thicker than vermicelli. Rice noodles.

Ta Lin is right around the corner from our house and I go there for some other stuff. I guess if I took him with me he could pick out his own noodles. They were the only place I could find quality Indian spices. Thanks for the suggestion - do you think the cubes will say Pho on them? [god, i sound stupid and desperate]

If they have them, they should say pho, yes. They may also sell the stuff by the jar or in envelopes.
