bagel, originally uploaded by christopher575.

Because of silly timing issues with shopping, this is my first bagel since Monday last week. Unfortunately, there seems to be a worldwide shortage of lemon juice in squeezy containers, so this wasn't nearly as good as they normally are. This is cream cheese, teriyaki chicken, sri racha, fresh mint, and romaine on a pesto bagel.

How can we be sure it is a bagel unless we question it...

One wonderful thing about SoCal--

Fresh lemons out the wazoo.

99.99999% of people with a yard have a lemon tree.

If I don't have any from my bf's or my friend's, I can just walk into the alley behind my apartment building and steal one from the overhanging branches from someone's backyard.

Well I could buy a lemon of course but I only use a few drops of juice a day.

Cut lemon in half. Squeeze lightly to extract a few drops. Cover cut ends with cling-wrap and put in the fridge for the next day. Or use the rest to make a glass of lemonade.

Sounds so natural and smart, I don't know if I can.

If there aren't any squeezy things at the store next time I go I will.

I had a pesto bagel yesterday.

And seriously, buy a lemon. I can bring you one from the market. They're like 50 cents.

That may be true, but that'd last, what, a couple days? The squeezy lemon juice thingy lasts like a month and costs about a dollar.

But it's a REAL lemon! There is no substitute.

I used to buy them for my tea. If you only slice off what you need, they last a couple of weeks.
