I want to make a mix CD for my bohfreh. I'm truly terrible at this sort of thing. Please help me by suggesting a pleasing order to put these songs in. My only request is that "We Will Survive" is the final track. I will not be offended if I get no replies, because my taste in music is famously bad and I seriously doubt anyone actually knows all these songs. Or would admit they know them all, anyway.

Turn it On - Flaming Lips
Joyenergizer - Joy Kitikonti
Sweetness and Tenderness - The Rentals
Thank U - Alanis Morisette
Mundian To Bach Ke - Panjabi MC
Butch - Imperial Teen
Open Your Heart - M People
Numb - U2
Lazy - Xpress 2 w/ David Byrne
We Will Survive (club mix) - Warp Brothers

Is there any hope for this group of tracks?

I was driving by "Sound Warehouse" a couple of days ago, and I couldn't help thinking of all the hours we spent wandering around in there drooling over the music.. :)

I forgot the point... which was, I doubt very much that my imput would be of any value being that my taste is similarly wacky.

You're right, I don't know them all, but I like the mix of the ones I do know and I know most of the artists. Maybe you could arrange them in order of BPM? Sometimes I just keep it simple and go alphabetical by artist for that "random but organized" feel.

Where's your canadian pride? Also, you should love Alanis for this:

Open the record with Butch, so at the very least they'll pick up the CD every time Butch gets stuck in their head.

I always say the best mix tapes are truly that - a MIX of all kinds of songs that really don't belong together, except for the fact that they all mean something to you. I like to put songs next to each other that have absolutely nothing in common.

I don't love her for it, but I do hate her less.

I might start with The Rentals one. IMO Joyenergizer should be in the middle, with Turn It On. I'd say keep 'Numb' and 'Lazy' apart.

Of course, if he listens to it it'll probably be on random anyway.
