Why do trailer parks in '80s movies always have neon signs?

I forgot Catherine Mary Stewart was in this. Now I want to see Night of the Comet and Weekend at Bernie's. Especially Weekend at Bernie's, it's been ages since I saw that one.

On the way to my bf's, I pass a mobile home park with a sign that says "Woodland Park Mobile Estates."
