Does it worry you that someone could potentially make a real key from your photo?

Not really a realistic thing to be concerned about unless a scientist from UC San Diego wants to break in.

From: http://www.jacobsschool.ucsd.edu/news/news_releases/release.sfe?id=791

San Diego, CA, October 30, 2008--UC San Diego computer scientists have built a software program that can perform key duplication without having the key. Instead, the computer scientists only need a photograph of the key.

&

The researchers have not released their code to the public, but they acknowledge that it would not be terribly difficult for someone with basic knowledge of MatLab and computer vision techniques to build a similar system.

I thought it was possible to make a key from a faxed or xeroxed copy of a metal key. Can't find source, so it may be an urban legend.

If it is true, though, it probably wouldn't be that hard to do from a close-up photo like this.

I'm honestly more worried that if someone wanted to get into my place they would either assault me for my keys or just pick the lock.

I used to have a chain with a clip thingy but it broke. :( It was nice because I could attach it to my belt loop and it was juuuuust long enough to go normally into my pocket but there was no need to worry about anything happening to them.

I won't post a photo, but I have ten of those little scannable plastic store card thingies, 11 metal keys, one car key and two remote controls.

After I move, I will only have 7 metal keys and one remote control.
