It amazes me that there are any homes with pianos in them in movies. It seems as though the only way to get one moved in is via cranes or pulley systems, and they always fail, sending the piano crashing down.

Office workers with multi-line phones on their desks always have five or so calls on hold.

Karaoke books are always really small and nobody ever has to wait to sing.

People bowling for the first time wear matching shirts with their friends.

Nobody can ever read an important letter; they're just too nervous.

Students always get to sit by their friends in class.

A very troubled class in a school in the ghetto achieves great success with the guidance of a new teacher who is not from the ghetto.

Elevator shafts are always sparkling clean - escaping an elevator is somewhat trivial, and the people are never dirty afterwards.

Anyone with an immobilized leg/cast in a wheelchair has their leg hit for slapstick effect at some point.

A car in a strange neighborhood pulling up to the curb
always manages to find an empty parking space.

A taxi passenger leaving the cab always seems to have the
exact amount of the fare ready and never has to wait for
change.

In fright films the woman is always alone in the house
and always goes down the basement steps where the
killer is hiding in the shadows.

When the woman runs through the woods to escape her
stalker, she always stumbles, usually more than once.

Ever see Diary of the Dead? There's a really funny thing about the stumbling.

You might have said these already.

Women as cops/FBI running in ridiculously tall stiletto heels on crappy urban terrain and never missing a beat, apprehending bad guys.

The black man always dying first.

The girl/woman who *dares* be sexual dies first in horror movies, while the virgin lives to tell the tale.

Waaaaayyyy too much in medias res whether it's actually useful or not.

I had to look up in medias res.

Ever see Ghosts of Mars? Flashbacks within flashbacks. Hilarious.

When we ended up at the wrong drive-in theater, they were showing previews of Tyler Perry's highly acclaimed "Precious". It's about this teenage black kid who needs lots of help etc. Well guess who's her adoptive mentor:

actually I'm not sure if the lady is mulatto but she's skinny, educated, and not as black as the fat one on the left. I mean seriously, can you get any more racist than this? thanks a lot Tyler Perry.

then again it's been established that you have to be SOMEWHAT white to be able to teach.
