This song always makes me cry a little, without fail.

Today was different. I guess now that it's nearly a decade on, it's no longer possible to be sad about a friendship that ended when someone decided never to speak to me again, not even to tell me why. It's so weird to see someone one day and have plans for the next night, only to have them never pick up the phone ever again.

At some point I just had to be happy with my own life and hope she's happy with hers, and realize that if she's unhappy, she's choosing to be.

It was so great to be able to listen to "Deadbeat Club" a couple of extra times for the first time this morning and feel the kind of nostalgia that makes me so happy and proud of where I am instead of sad about life's wrong turns.

A very morbid question, but can you confirm that this person is alive? did they not answer because of something tragic?
I'm sorry you had to go through that. Been down that road myself :(

I know for sure she's alive. She's easy to find on the internet. A while after I moved to Seattle, she just decided she didn't want to talk to me any more. I was visiting Albuquerque and we met up for coffee with another friend and had a lot of fun. We were supposed to go out to our old club and dance the next night and she just never answered again.

Later, she was in touch with that other friend, but he would never tell me anything specific that she may have said about it.

First off, you made my day! I had no idea there was a video for my favorite song from the B52s "Deadbeat Club." :-)

Secondly, sorry it makes you sad to hear, but at least you're able to move on and look on the positive side. Hopefully the former friend does the same.
