At work we have a huge cooler of free beverages. We also have non-dairy creamer and half-and-half for the coffee, which is also free. Some people think it's ok to use just a bit of one of the cartons of milk for their coffee and put the rest back.

I say this is not ok. If they want to do that, the rest of the milk should go in the refrigerator, not the cooler.

I'm sure they all think they're part of some milk community and that five or six people will share a carton. If that's the case, why is there ever more than one carton? I see, they want to share, but only if they get to be the first person to open the carton.

i think this is one of the oldest complaints on campus. it was a regular topic in the letters to the editor section of the company newsletter. it used to bug the hell out of me when i worked there.

idk i'd just look at the date of one of the open ones/sniff it and use it (and probably move the open ones to the fridge). i can't be the only one. maybe there are enough of us who actually share?

oh. ok.. i get it a little more. but i still dont think its any big deal at all :p maybe the idea would work slightly better if someone wrote "share!" on the carton they open, but *shrug*. i would totes use an open one to put a little in my coffee.

Everyone who wants to use milk for their coffee should take from the open one until it's empty. My complaint is that they all want to use the milk, but none of them will take from the open ones, but then they put it back expecting everyone else to.

And that they should have a share one in the fridge instead of the cooler.

I had similar problems when I did craft service.

People would get a plastic knife to spread cream cheese on their bagel, then leave the crumb-coated knife in the cream cheese (or on top of it, or on the counter next to it,) presumably for someone else to use.

Then person #2 would a fresh clean knife, use it, and leave it next to the first knife, presumably for someone else to use.

Everyone wants someone else to use the knife they just used, but they themselves won't use one that's already been used.

this drives me up the fucking wall. the other day i pulled a carton of milk out of the fridge and got all the way back to my office before i realized it had already been opened and used. motherfuckers, every last one of 'em.
