What a pain

After many, many wonderful years, the spring which holds the clasp on my wallet chain closed broke tonight as I was taking it off, rendering it useless. It's also an extremely heavy, thick chain, and the clasp is in one of the links, so I can't get it out. Pictured here is my old raver chain, which is not glow-in-the-dark, but looks amazing under a black light. I actually have many yards of this chain, but don't know what to do with it. I know it should go in my bathroom somehow, but chain isn't really useful in a bathroom.

The reason for the picture of my old party chain is that I had to borrow the clasp off of it to use on my regular chain. Until I can get two good vice grips and maybe even a pair of hands stronger than mine, I'll just have an extra clip dangling there. I hope it doesn't look like I'm flagging keys, but if I am, at least it'll be on the correct side.

Anyone who spends any time around me knows I always wear the chain. It pretty much only comes off at times when a tie would go on. Funerals, interviews, etc. I was thinking about wearing the party chain temporarily while this gets sorted out, but I just don't think it's business-casual enough.

I'm very attached to my chain, no pun intended. Back at my old job before I moved here, because of a misunderstanding, we all had to start working even more overtime, and my work weeks jumped from 50ish to 55ish hours a week. My manager--who was partly to blame for the misunderstanding and was eventually fired for a bigger one--wanted me to wear a smaller chain on weekdays and the large one only on casual Fridays. One week, I'd put in about 32 hours by the end of Wednesday, and decided to have a casual Thursday as well as a casual Friday. She saw the big chain and complained to her boss, who pretty much told her she had much better things to worry about.

I probably should have put both chains in the picture, but it's getting late.
