I dated a guy whose mother was an astrologer but she was this odd kind that totally got the whole "precession of the equinoxes has shifted everything" and realized that the actual stars and planets really had nothing to do with anything, but she said she thought it worked due because it was some kind of sophisticated "pattern recognition," perhaps based on seasonal cycles and other solar system phenomena.
She used to do charts for me and they were always 100% wrong. They pretty much failed to predict anything in my life, at ALL. So much for the "vague wishy washy statements" theory. I don't buy the arguments that a lot of skeptics make because the research that is typically cited is itself flawed, but, there's no denying it's bullshit.
This does not stop me from enjoying Rob Breszny's Free Will Astrology.
[Edit: Except for the whole Pronoia bullshit, which makes me want to punch him in the area. People who write such books and think like that need to visit places like the Sudan, the Congo and Romani refugee camps in Kosovo, and see if they still think people are to blame for their own unhappiness. ]
