You know that part in "Work It" by Missy Elliot where she says, "Put my thing down, flip it, and reverse it" and then they play that same part backwards? I thought it would be interesting to find a video where someone played that whole thing backward, since it's well-known that it's that part backwards, but it doesn't really sound like it would be. 

Anyway, one thing led to another, and I ended up watching this. Whoa.

My guess is that it never really went away, but YouTube gave it a fresh breath of life.
