I met up with [profile] badrobot68 in a parking lot that bore a striking resemblance to the one at the shopping center in Albuquerque formerly known as Northdale at 4th and Osuna. He had met some men at a party I wasn't at the night before, and we were on our way to an event they were throwing. We got to the venue, which had a few large rooms, and settled in at the first part, which was a talk show that was being filmed. It wasn't a regular show or anything, it was part of the event, and the host had never done anything like it. Everyone else in the audience was being kind of lame, like they were mostly hoping to be in on the show, rather than just being the audience. They'd try to jump in while he was talking, etc.

I had lost a small chunk of one of my toes, and used it to grow what can best be described as three toes and the first inch or so of bone in the foot. I pierced my actual foot, and used a safety pin to attach these new toes over my old ones. This girl Hannah I know appeared for a moment just to say how cool it looked, kind of like she did the other day in real life when Alan and I were at the coffee shop. That day she flitted by, asked if the coffee shop had food, went in, and left without saying goodbye to us. She may have muttered something about quiche. Back to the dream: I was extremely proud of the toe thing for a while. Everyone noticed it, and either thought it was really cool, or thought it was a great achievement. Nobody looked at it and thought it was gross.

The talk show part ended, and music was playing, but there weren't a lot of people there. There was a second, smaller room upstairs with lovely royal blue carpet (even on the walls) and I wanted to hang out in there. There were about as many people dancing in there as the main room, but since it was smaller it was more of a happening scene. The music was only coming in from the main room, and could barely be heard in there, so I went to a new area that was kind of like a bar or cafe. People would walk in and cast really interesting, cartoony shadows on the wall. At first I thought I was losing my mind, but there was a guy hired by the promoters at a table by the door who had little cutout shapes and some kind of light hidden in his jacket making the shadows. It was a hit, too. People would look over at their shadows and burst out laughing, or move back and forth to see if their shadow could keep up. It was a nice touch, and the guy doing the shadows was having a great time.

[profile] hypergeek was there getting ready to host karaoke. At first I thought it was a commercial for his karaoke, because the stuff he was saying about it was extremely slick. He's really well-spoken host anyway, but the stuff I was hearing was as well-written as the part where V introduces himself to Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta.

I looked down and started to think my toe thing was kind of gross. I took it off and tried to close the safety pin, but it wouldn't stay closed and flew out of my hand, nearly hitting a girl next to me in the face.

Those were fine, but you know how I feel about you wearing flip-flops.
