I was stumped for ideas for Father's Day because my dad is at a place in his life where he really doesn't want much and just buys whatever he needs.
jodfoster suggested a massage and I'm glad she did, because I asked him if he'd want one and he said he'd never had one and would love to try it. I bought him a gift certificate and tried to get him to schedule one with
pixink, but he forgot that part of my text message instructions and scheduled it with some dude. I'm just glad he enjoyed it.
We talked for over an hour this morning. He asked how things were going with me and Garrett and said he was glad I met him. He said the same thing I've heard from a lot of people, which is that it's obvious Garrett makes me very happy. It's really true that I'm the happiest I've ever been, but I didn't realize one could tell just by hearing a change in my attitude over the phone.
And I'm relieved to find a gift I can keep re-buying for my dad!
Oh yeah, and tomorrow is my dad's 70th birthday. When he was my age, he was about to have me, his fifth kid. Can you picture me with five kids? I can barely keep one plant alive.
