Week 15, no repeat t-shirt weeks
Feb. 3rd, 2022 04:09 amLast week was super busy with freelance commitments and I'm glad those are done for now because this week really ramped up at work. Yesterday was the first time I started the day with assignments due by the end of the day, and I'm glad I addressed them immediately because I got some more with only three hours left in the day! It was a very weird feeling when one of the most important people in the company asked if they could put time on my calendar to brainstorm and I had to say, "Absolutely! But please not today because I'm on deadline."
I'm also really glad that another big whitepaper project is being handled appropriately, by a lot of people in a methodical way. It wouldn't be completely unreasonable for them to brief out the whole thing and then assign it to me to slog through, but thankfully it'll be written by the experts and I'll polish their draft. And I'm doing part of the research which is finding similar ones from other companies so we can make sure we differentiate ourselves appropriately.
Anyway, if I'd been running around this week trying to get down to Edmonds to get footage for the county's TikTok, plus getting takeout from a restaurant twice to try it out, that'd be a bit much. The TikTok goes live tomorrow and I'll do a post about this latest series I did after that. For now, here are selfies I took while making the last one and the second one.

I really only took on that food writing assignment because I wrote about that restaurant when it opened, and again when they decided to test out a new concept a year ago. They recently decided to ditch the original concept and embrace the new one, so I really wanted to be the one to cover it. Especially because I never tried the food when I wrote about it the second time. It was before the covid vaccine was available and the pop-ups were irregular so I couldn't just pop over.
Since I'm sharing pictures of me, here's a screenshot from my most recent podcast recording session. It'd been a while since I used a Melrose Place background during recording and I hadn't seen this picture before. Nice of them to leave a spot for my head.

I also recently mailed out issue 21 of my zine, and it's the first one that's in color! Garrett's got his own business and we needed to spend some money by the end of the year, so we got a very nice laser printer. Message me if you want to check out my zine, I charge $1 in the US and $2 everywhere else. You can also submit writing prompts and if I use them, you get the issues they appear in for free. Just keep in mind I'm writing haiku based on them, so don't go too wild thinking up grand ideas. Though I have managed to tackle some pretty complex ones, like "100 word or less sci-fi epic" and "old cats, the joy of them still purring for us."

And finally, the shirts! I could mention an LJ connection here but I don't tag people who don't use the site any more. Which is a weird feeling since we're still in each other's circles and in touch. They're not a person who does this, but mentioning it makes me think of all the people who complain occasionally that they miss LJ. They annoy me because it's still here! If you quit using something you shouldn't really whine about missing it. Thankfully it's been a long time since I've seen someone say that.
It's super weird that more people haven't come back. They complain about Facebook, use Instagram grudgingly, fear Snapchat and TikTok even though they lap up the same content copied by and onto Instagram, and never used tumblr even though it's honestly the best of them all. Oh well! Haha.
