This was sort of the final week for no repeat t-shirts, and oddly it fell on a week we had a two-day summit in Seattle, so I repeated some because I wanted to wear some of my nicer ones in person. And I found one after the week was done so I went ahead and posted it on IG and FB but will wear it this week. Next, I'll do a post of my shirts that aren't appropriate for work.

So, Seattle was great and I'll do a private post with photos when they become available. It wasn't great being in a stuffy conference room all day for two days with a mask on, but the presentations were great, and we had a nice dinner the first night out and an amazing ping pong party at SPIN the second. I can't recommend an upscale ping pong night highly enough for a team building activity. It's so fun to play and watching everyone who's not playing get surprised by flyaway balls is hilarious.

The space is entirely underground like a few other places in that area of downtown, and nice and dark which you don't see in the photos on the website.

Back here in Everett, our local roller rink that Garrett spent a lot of time at in his youth is about to be torn down. He and his cousin Becky were talking while I was in Seattle and they had the excellent idea for all of us to go yesterday.

skatedeck

It's wild that I'm just not the skater I once was, considering how avid of one I used to be. It really hurts my shins and I was worried the entire single lap I did that I'd hurt myself. I wonder what kind of training I could do that's not just...more skating. You'd think with how much I walk that I'd be fine but I guess it doesn't translate at all.

One of Garrett's oldest friends from elementary through high school saw his post about going and joined up. It was neat to meet her and see them catch up. She had a daughter along who recently turned 21! I believe she was the first 21-year-old I've met who was born since I arrived in Seattle in 1999.

After the roller rink, we went to Clubhouse, our neighborhood bar, for dinner. It was our first time in a very, very long time and I'm so glad we went. Washington's mask mandate ended Friday so all day yesterday there was a palpable joy in the air. Of course I'm worried about what may come next. Fingers crossed!

week20a

This shirt was given to me by my friend Russell, and two friends commented when they saw my post that they also have it!

week20b

When I got this back in 2010, the Mask-Querade was the only gay bar on the entire island of Hawaii. I just googled and, while several bars come up in a search, I think there's only 2. This one, plus a newer one called My Bar. They have one of the coolest things ever, a karaoke jukebox. It's pretty rad that you can just do a song whenever it's quiet and they don't need a host for it.

week20c

Garrett got me this one for a birthday or Christmas. It's the one I noticed after I'd already posted that week 20 so I need to wear it tomorrow.
