She got me
Feb. 4th, 2023 03:46 pmWe got a cold from our contractor early in January that he got at his family Christmas party. I don't get a cold that often, but when I do, it drags on and on. I was really sick for two solid weeks, and still had a cough that lingered for most of the next week and a half after that. Things felt pretty normal when I went out to an '80s karaoke night on Thursday so I could write about the venue, which I previously wrote about as it was getting ready to open up.
I stayed out late and had a great time, along with several cans of cider, plus a small glass of white wine when I got home to wind down. The way I felt yesterday was a bit much, though. A terrible hangover that was very disproportionate to the amount I actually had. After a night of not-so-great sleep last night, I took a COVID test this morning, and then another to confirm the results.

My streak is over! Boo. Thankfully it was quite easy to get a video visit with the clinic for a Paxlovid prescription, and it didn't take long to correct the hiccup when I found out the pharmacy I had them send it to is closed weekends.
Luckily our house has a full mother-in-law apartment downstairs. So far Garrett's not testing positive, and I'm downstairs with everything I need. He quickly got me an air mattress, my prescription, and groceries. That way I don't have to go upstairs at all, even to go to bed.
We were supposed to go out for dinner tonight so I could write about the restaurant, and I feel bad canceling because the contact got the days mixed up and thought we were coming yesterday. We're due there in a minute and I'm not even sure she's seen the email saying I'm not coming today after all.
Symptoms are annoying, but mild so far. Paxlovid makes a terrible flavor creep up your throat, which I've already noticed after just one dose.
