Better late than never
Jun. 16th, 2023 08:11 amI was probably just 20 or 21 when I first started wanting tattoos, but didn't even get my first one until age 30. I can't really explain why it took another 18 years to get what I wanted as my first tattoo, but I will say I'm glad I keep a spreadsheet tab listing the stuff I want to get. When the need arises, it's great to have a few designs in your back pocket.
During a consultation with Jimmy about what to do with my left hand, we had a hard time. I hoped to extend my sleeve and have it turn into a geometric pattern, but he didn't think we'd be able to do anything great in that small of a space. After going back and forth a bit, I got my phone out, checked the list, and realized I had something perfect in mind: a few of the interlocking clowns from "E21" by M.C. Escher.

Your eye is almost certainly drawn to the spots where three heads meet, and I always pictured getting three of them connected at the head. But that would take up a lot of space while also leaving lots of empty space, so I asked Jimmy to do three of them joined at the foot. Nice and compact.

Healing a tattoo on the back of your hand is no fun at all, and getting this one made me change my plan for the other hand. I always figured it'd be something big and bold like this, but I'm opting for something with a lot more white space instead. The plan for today is to do that on my right hand and two small things from my list on the right arm. I also have an appointment for Sunday to do the second piece of my TRON leg. And I recently changed my mind about what's getting done that day.
That's the thing about tattoos. You can change your mind a lot up until you have them.
