Dos nuevos tatuajes
Sep. 10th, 2023 09:30 amI realized as I prepared to write this that although I've been learning Spanish on Duolingo for over two years, I didn't know the word for tattoo yet. Now I do, the title means two new tattoos. Lately I've mostly waited for healed photos since sometimes it's hard to get a good picture of a fresh one, but Friday was an exception.

That's me as a Fruit Stripe Gum centaur. If you're not familiar with Fruit Stripe, it's absolutely delicious, but that flavor famously doesn't last. I can't remember if any jokes about that were part of the concept of a Fruit Stripe Centaur when Tatiana Gill and I came up with it back in 2015, but I was super jealous when she immediately drew herself as one.

A couple of months ago, I decided it was finally time to do something about that jealousy and commissioned her to draw me as one so I could get a tattoo. She did a fantastic job, as always!

I had to flip it due to where I wanted it, on the right side of my belly. Yet another awesome tattoo by Jimmy, who's done more of my tattoos than anyone else.

I wonder how many people have tattoos of themselves. It's a club I'm happy to join! I wasn't quite so happy to pay for another tattoo right now, but with the guiche piercing keeping me out of the pool for so long anyway, it would be silly not to get two tattoos while it heals up.
The centaur tattoo came three weeks after another tattoo I was very excited to get, Kimber and Stormer from season 2, episode 5 of Jem, "The Bands Break Up" from 1987. Sarah Christine, who also works at Lion's Paw, did an incredible job. And if you're in the US at least, you can watch that episode for free on Tubi.

I also had a flash of inspiration during that session for a chest tattoo that incorporates that stubborn nipple that refuses to keep a nipple ring in it. But I'll share it when it happens, of course. I currently have a dozen tattoos on my "want to do" list, and have 46 tattoos. That's counting my entire left arm as one, the two on my right leg as one because they'll eventually connect, and my backpiece as one. And the set of eight knuckles are also one.
Reminder, you can see them all on my tattoo blog. The centaur isn't there yet because the tattoo shop's social media guy is going to make a video of it. It's hard to embed a video well on LiveJournal and Dreamwidth, so I'll just link to it at some point.
