Preview day
Apr. 26th, 2024 04:35 amThe thing that's not exciting about teaching on Tuesdays and Thursdays if I get hired is that my Tuesday/Thursday routine right now is pretty damn cool. I drive out to Mukilteo for two rounds of circuit training on the eGym, then get in my swim gear and enjoy the sauna a bit before Gwen's water fitness class. She's my favorite of the instructors there, and if I teach at the same time, I'll never get to go to her class.
So eventually I'll switch to strength training on Monday and Friday, or maybe MWF, but the Wednesday water fitness class is pretty tough and I'm not so sure about showing up already tired from eGym. Nothing to do but try it sometime and see how it feels.
I had a late night Wednesday night and didn't go to Mukilteo at all yesterday. That turned out to be a good thing because I went to the later water fitness in Everett with an instructor whose class I'd never been to. It's always good to try new instructors to get inspiration for my own classes. And she did something called A-B which was taking a set of two exercises and performing them for one minute each: A, B, A, B. I liked it. Good way to fill up time.
Today I'm making up my missed eGym session and then staying in my gym clothes to drive from Mukilteo to Everett, where I'll get in swim gear and do water fitness. Like I said before, it's not really extra driving since I'm a three-minute drive from the Everett location. It's just a different order.
I'm glad to do that class today because Melissa and I did Mill Creek the last two Fridays and I think I was sick the week before that? I've lost track but it's been a very long time since I was in the Friday Everett class, and I like that instructor a lot. She wants to work for me as a bartender if I ever win the lottery and open an '80s bar, and we have a lot of mutual friends in the tattoo/piercing community. She hasn't even seen my new surface tragus piercing, that's how long it's been.
The simplest thing to do in the future would be to always attend class in Everett, but I want to keep Mill Creek and Mukilteo in the rotation. Hell, I'll even want to go to Connie's class in Marysville once in a while even though I'd also be teaching there.
I'm always saying one of the great things about Everett is that it's a great community surrounded by a lot of other really great ones. The Y is a perfect example of that. There's a lot to like about the facilities I have access to and I'll keep going to all of them.
