Don't even get me started about Daft Punk. I think The Chemical Brothers are way better and it seems like Daft Punk gets all the recognition because, well, you can't recognize them with their gimmick helmets. But then again, I'd have a hard time spotting a ChemBro in a crowd, too. Anyway, the real lyric is faster, but I upgraded my water fitness with a new tool that slows me down a bit. And the faster I try to go, the harder it is.

I was in class on Friday last week and the instructor Nelly had some great big yellow dumbbells, and I'd never seen anything like them. She noticed me checking them out and asked if I'd like to try them, and I fell in love instantly.

Hydro-Bells by Hydro-Tone work differently from standard water fitness dumbbells, which simply float. The more material they're made with, the harder it is to keep them under water. Regular dumbbells are a great tool and I'll always use them, but I started with the "heaviest" type and have always wished for a way to level up. I finally found it. I got the black ones, by the way.

Hydro-Bells float slightly, but that's not what makes them useful for working out. No matter what direction you move them in the water, there's resistance. Push faster, and it's even more difficult. They're awesome. I still need the floatiness of regular bells for certain exercises, so now even though I show up with my own equipment, I have the other set on standby for things like karate kicks, crunches, shoo-throughs, and side shooters.

The Marysville director I now report to suggested getting even more core strength exercise than I already do to help with teaching on deck. I agreed it's a good idea so I'll try to get some of my old physical therapy pool stuff back into the routine before classes, and I added an extra set of the two core machines to my two circuts of eGym this morning.

I also have my old floor physical therapy exercises and of course yoga that can get folded into the routine, too. Those are my least favorite so I'm saving them for later and if the need feels more urgent.

Speaking of water fitness (as though I'm ever not) one of my Mukilteo classmates approached me a couple of weeks ago and said she noticed my Patrick Nagel tattoos and that she had a couple of old prints I could have! She ended up selling one at a garage sale but brought me this today. How cool is that?

I only have one other Nagel so I'm very glad it wasn't a duplicate. Time to finally spruce up my room a bit.
