I was kinda hoping to get another tattoo session scheduled for this afternoon, but when I called the shop to book time with Sarah, I learned she's booked pretty far out. And she requires a deposit. So on Wednesday, I went to the shop to drop off the deposit and thought maybe I could get a walk-in tattoo. And Garrett decided to come along. Sort of. We drove separate cars since there was no telling how long each of us would be there.

With my deposit taken care of for an appointment scheduled in September, I started talking to Nathan about some of the ideas I had. I really wanted to do the second set of knuckles, with the ghosts from Pac-Man on one hand and the Space Invaders on the other. I got the response tattoo enthusiasts always dread, "I can do it, but I don't think it'll look good in the long run." So I need to think of something there's eight of or two things there are four of that doesn't need a lot of detail. Perhaps just another word or two. Ironically one tattoo I want is an eight-letter word, but I want it in cursive and also big and colorful. Not good for the fingers.

So I went into my list and asked Nathan if they'd be interested in one of my somewhat-recent-but-high-priority ideas. It's a twist on the traditional climbing panther design, but as Pink Panther with fancy accessories. I got the response tattoo enthusiasts love to hear, "Hell yeah!" It's on my ribs and it's twice as big as I always pictured it, so we only did the outline. And I'm definitely using numbing cream when we fill it in.

I went back to the shop today to consult with Jimmy about something we said we'd do a long time ago. He likes doing a grim reaper or a space reaper for everyone, and when he asked if I wanted one I said yes, as long as it's a Klingon. The bat'leth in place of the scyth and the ridged skull will be incredible. It's been a while since we talked about it, so I'm glad we're finally doing it a week from today. Well, we'll start. It's probably going to take up my entire left pec and connect to my arm, so it'll take at least two sessions. I hope!

I know at least one person who will be disappointed that I'm delaying my return to the pool even further, but now's a really good time to get a bunch of work done, and I took a long time off.

We may head to the piercing shop tomorrow for another consultation. Our friend Claire wants to do piercings for her 50th birthday and I want to be sure the jewelry for whichever project I end up doing has plenty of time to arrive if it needs to be ordered.
