What a year
Oct. 23rd, 2024 05:16 amA quick glance at my calendar confirms that last week was my first one teaching all five days, which will happen once in a while now that I'm scheduled for every day but Wednesday. I subbed last week for the first time in Monroe, and have been on the schedule for a while to sub for my mentor in Marysville today, so it was supposed to be ten classes in two weeks.
Then I got an email Monday from my friend Melissa, who I recruited into teaching water fitness. She hurt her calf teaching Friday and her doctor said not to teach for 7-10 days. Not wanting her afternoon class to get canceled, I said I'd cover yesterday. That meant I'd be in Mukilteo at 7:30 and Mill Creek at 1:30. And if I'm going to teach two classes in a day, that's the best combination I could hope for. Mukilteo is the most comfortable in terms of temperature, and Mill Creek is 45 minutes instead of an hour.
I took the precaution of skipping my morning strength training, and feel fine today. The last time I taught two classes in a day, it was in Marysville and then Everett. I was still pretty new, and I was wiped out completely for a couple of days. Today feels like any other Wednesday so far. But there are still three more classes to teach this week.
Teaching for a completely new group is always fun anyway. They don't know what to expect and my format always goes over well. I get lots of great feedback from regulars, of course, but coming in as a sub and hearing from new people is special in a different way.
This morning I'll see a lot of familiar faces and I'll give them a choice: a regular playlist, or my Halloween one!
Today is the one-year anniversary of the first time I ever went to a water fitness class. What a wild year it's been.
