I will watch the LASIK segment shown in the trailer with my hands in front of my face. (And yes, someone has already told me how it fully plays out. Ew. EW!)
I had somehow managed to miss the first 4 until last weekend, when I realized that we had used copies of them at work, so I borrowed them, and stayed up all day last Saturday after working an overnight to watch the first 3, and then the 4th this weekend. 1 and 2 are obviously the best, and I really appreciated the time/set-up/multiplicity of the events that led up to a single death, like in the kitchen scenes, rather than a simple "switch pulled/pool drains, coin falls in".
The tanning bed scene in 3 is one of my fave non-opening scene deaths in all of them, along with "teacher in the kitchen" in 1, and "lottery winner in the kitchen" in 2.
the deaths in 4 irritated me because there were so many fakeouts on how the person would actually die (the beauty-salon/lawn-mower death being the prime example). The mouse-trap domino effect set ups are why I see those movies.

I know, right? All those fakeouts in the salon, and it comes back to the most random thing, which was the first one set up? Although it ends up being caused by her kids, as revenge for the tampons in the ears.
Agreement that 2 had the best opening massacre, because we "see" it. 1 was just a "Bam!" in the background, and then the windows blow. 3 could have been better, if it happened in the daytime. It was just too dark to see everything happening. 2, with the "this, then this, then also this, and we didn't forget him", and then, even after she wakes up from the premonition, and some who we assumed would also be safe don't make it? Yes, please.
4 had to have been released in 3D, right? Too lazy to check, and I only saw it on DVD, but it seemed like so many shots were set up for 3D, so I'll just assume that it added something to it. Fave-o was early girl being dispatched by a tire. Twice.
Please spoil for me as to why Candyman mortuary guy was in 5. Are we back in the general geographic area where 1 and 2 took place, or has he moved/expanded his funeral home business?
I don't go to movies in theatres! The last movie I saw in a theatre might have been An Inconvenient Truth. Maybe Superbad. Because they were so similar, y'know?
4 was originally supposed to be direct-to-DVD... But then right at the start of production, they thought if they added 3D to it they could drum it up enough to be a proper theatrical release, so they did. So yep you're absolutely right.
Its kind of why the actors and actresses in it are all unknowns.. it was cast for a DVD release :| I don't recognize anyone in 5 either... The first 3 actually had recognizable people in them.
In 5 I recognize David Koechner because I've had a crush on him forever and I knew I recognized Emma Bell but it turns out she's from The Walking Dead which is another thing full of people you've never heard of.
